I'm just kidding around. I'm sure everyone is reading an amazing book that captures your attention like a hawk captures a fish. ha ha Well anyways, my book is called HOT NUMBER by Carly Phillips. It is considered to be a romance novel and is 378 pages long. I came across this book when i was shopping at Costco and was intrigued so i bought it.
Micki Jordan is the main character and she is one of the best sports publicists in the business. Micki has been a tomboy her entire life and decides that she no longer wants to be one of the guys. She decides this after one New Year's Eve kiss with her hot baseball crush Damian Fuller. After the kiss happened she was done for. She felt this intense chemistry for him but she wasn't sure if he felt it as well or if he was just drunk and was looking for some lips to kiss when the clock stroked midnight.
It turns out that Damian Fuller ends up "saving" Micki one night at an after party for one his games. She was gone and some guys were trying to take advantage of her and Fuller pulls her out and takes her home. While they're in the cab we, the readers, get to hear what Fuller is thinking and Fuller has the same feelings for Micki as she does with him. The next day Micki's uncle, which happens to be her boss, sends her away to go with Fuller to lay low until the press died down over the incident.
While Micki is there with Fuller they end up failing for each other but they made a rule when they first got there that this relationship was just at the island. When they get back to the city, Fuller's X says she's pregnant and that he is the father. This just tears up Micki as well as Fuller because they know they should be together. In a twisted turn of events, Fuller is not the father, he and Micki get married, and everyone wins.
There are other little stories going on throughout their story but i figured you only need to know about the main one and if you want to know the rest of them tell me and I'll lend you the book.
Carly Phillips is a writer that gives you a lot of detail of the characters emotions and of their situations so you can feel like you know the characters yourself. She has many other books and I think she is a very good writer.

this book sounds really interesting because its the kind of book that i like to read. i looooove romantic stories & this one sounds like there is a bunch of drama going on and who doesn't love that? i like how she used to be a tomboy until this guy changed her. that sounds really cute. i think i'm gonna have to check this book out!!! oh and you should definitely read the book that i just read. i think you would really like it. [:
Believe it or not, I've never read any romance novels before. This whole fiasco with who got who pregnant is intriguing, I think a paternity test is in order. :]
I would pick this up in a second if I didn't have a billion other books that need to be read.
Kayla Buono, you know that I do not like romance novels, I would rather read a book where someone dies and there is emmense tragedy, but I must admit that this novel does not sound bad at all. Maybe someday I shall borrow it from you, that is if I ever finish my huge book I have now. :)
Wow! That was like a mini episode of Gossip Girl! Haha. It sounds very scandalous and something that I would enjoy reading. I love when the cute jock turns out to be a hopeless romantic or a smart, poetic guy. Even though if that doesn't ever happen in real life. Oh and if you haven't already read it, I would definitely suggest reading Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson. I think it is in the same genre as the book you read this quarter, so I'm pretty sure you will love it too. I know I did!
Kayla,
this book sounds really interesting. i love the fact that the main character is a tomboy and wants to change. love stories are fun to read becasue it makes you think that 1 day it could happen to you. lol! but it really does sound good. i like the fact that the author is very descriptive as well. that always helps me get a better understanding of the book. i will definitly have to check this book out!
While your SSR book does sound "cooler" than mine I think mine is right up there with books you must read. (: But let's stick to talking about yours.
I just now quickly glanced at Amari's comment about "a bunch of drama going on and who doesn't love that" and laughed a little. Because I was thinking the same thing. Romantic stories are great, and this one seems twisty with that whole "he's your baby" "maybe not" stuff going on. Was it a pretty quick read? Because I might just have to pick it up sometime. I didn't really get the part where they were on an island? I was reading your thing and all of a sudden it said island and I got a little confused but kept going anyways.
I am also really curious about the other stories you said were going on in the book, which makes me really want to read it now. Thanks.
Kayla,
I am not a big fan of romantic books either because all the one's I have read always seem to suck :[ Maybe I will try this one out because you make the story sounds cool and interesting to read. It's funny because I can relate well to the main character Micki, because she was a tomboy and wanted to change. That's how I used to be =] Maybe this will be the first romance book that is actually good and not too corny!
wow! So I love reading romance novels and this one seems very intriging. I like the fact that you said the author gives a lot of details about what goes on, that is exactly what I need. I woul;d like to know what the other stories are becuase what more could there be?! The whole idea of this book just makes me want to readit, plus I love when there is a good ending!
Wow!! i really love these types of books maybe that sounds all bad because it makes it sound like i love drama :] but not in real life. I love gossip girl and it does seem like an episode.. maybe this book should become a tv show. I'm definitly going to have to look at this authors collection!
This book sounds really drama-filled, and I love drama-filled! The closest thing I've ever read to a romance novel are the Twilight series (which are beyond amazing). So I think I am for sure going to look for this book. I like how you said that the author is one who really uses a lot of detail and really gets the reader into the emotions of each character. That to me is the whole point of reading. To become lost in a story and its' characters.
