Curiosity

People love to define things and figure people out, whether its why Rihanna got back with Chris Brown, or how the homeless man down the street got into that unfortunate situation. The human brain is naturally curious to know everything, and when they cant find it out, they make up their own stories and rumors and opinions of what they know nothing about. We may criticize Chris McCandless’ actions and even his journal entries, but we will never know what his true intentions were. We may have all the scientific research available to analyze his body and his tracks and we are able to talk to the people he has met, but we will never know if he had a mental illness, or if he was psychologically damaged because of his tough home life, or was he just curious himself, wanting more than the pictures in his mind that his books have for him.

So, you can say he was crazy, or just rebellious. I guess we will never know…

that really made me think. you are right! we will never know. i didnt take into consideration that he could have been mentally damaged because of his parents. that shed a new light on his situation and his newfound lifestyle.

i completely agree with what you said. my first impression of him is that he's weird or crazy but i will never really know for sure what was wrong with him or even if there was anything wrong. i guess it really is a mystery. i'm actually like thinking about that now lol. good point! [:
