If Tomorrow Comes

If Tomorrow Comes, by Sidney Sheldon is mystery novel from back in the 80's. I tend to read a lot of non-fiction novels, but for this quarter this was definitely my favorite. The first chapter opens up with a scene of a lady who commits suicide after calling her daughter for the last time to simply say goodnight, not showing any sign of what she was about to do... As it turns out the daughter, named Tracey Whitney, learns of her mothers dealth and flies out to where she lived. On her trip she uncover the reason for her mothers suicide. Due to the hard economic times her mother had decided to sell her passed husbands company which he built up from the ground to a man who in the end cheated her out of everything and left her in an unending debt. Too ashamed of what happened she decided to take her life. Tracey, devastated, decided to pay a little visit to the man who had committed this crime only to find that he worked for the most powerful man in new orleans so naturally everything had been covered up and she could do nothing about it. While in his company she was raped and taken advantage of so she accidentally shot him and in shock ran out. She was arrested at the airport trying to escape. (everyting set up against her by this "mafia" type group of people who controlled new orleans)
Long story short she was sentenced for all these crimes she didn't do and was sentenced to 15 years in the penetentiary for women. While there she encountered some of the most apauling experiences of her life. She made a break out, i wont tell you how. Once she was out she found that she couldn't get a job anywhere if her life counted on it because of her "criminal record." Driven by payback, revenge, and vengence she sought out everyone who did her wrong and made each one pay. ( Some of the most interesting plots i have ever read) Deciding that she couldnt live much longer without an income she got accainted with a man who was into jelewry theft, although she was opposed to it at first she decided to do it. I dont want to ruin the end of the story for anyone because i strongly recomend this book to everyone! It is extremely entertaining, has you rooting for this girl because almost everything is working out for the worst for her, and just about the most witty plots i have ever read.
