Going After Cacciato

Going After Cacciato by Tim O' Brien is a novel about a platoon of U.S. soldiers during the Vietnam War. I tend to judge books by their cover, and the front of this looked really interesting so i started to read it. Its this platoon chasing after a man named Cacciato that is trying to desert the war and run away to Paris, France. The lietunant has orders to chase after him and take him back to the war. Cacciato leaves them little clues in the jungles such as Hershey's wrappers, and another time he made a booby trap smoke bomb scaring the whole squad but nobody was hurt. During their trek, maain character Paul Berlin falls in love with a Vietnamese refugee, named Sarkin Aung Wan. They chase him into India, and then into Afghanistan and I haven't read far enough to figure out if they actually ended up catching him or not. Its an interesting book but it's just slow moving. I recommend it for anybody who has a lot of time just to sit down and power through a book.
